How will games work with attention in the future?

I was thinking the other day about how rare 'quiet' has become. Even when I’m alone, there’s usually some digital noise—a podcast, a notification, or just the hum of the internet. It feels like every second of our lives has to be 'filled' with something. Is it even possible to find a space that isn't trying to sell me an idea or capture my focus anymore? I’m starting to think that true silence and the ability to just be alone with your thoughts is going to become the ultimate luxury that only the wealthy can afford.

That’s a very prophetic way of looking at it. I was reading a piece on https://www.fontmirror.com/en/the-attention-economy-of-the-future/ that explores how 'attention' has become a finite resource that is almost completely tapped out. Because there is no more 'new' time to claim, companies are fighting over the tiny gaps of silence we have left. The site suggests that in the future, being 'offline' or having an ad-free existence will be a premium service. We are moving toward a world where the default state is constant stimulation, and you will literally have to pay a subscription fee just to be left alone in peace.
